7 Last-Minute Family Lenten Ideas

LENT: It’s here. You’re on board, the husband’s on board…but the toddler? He’s got his own way of mortifying you.🙃 By now you’ve probably got your Lenten plan in place. But, in case you don’t, here are some Mr6am’s OG Lenten family practices we’ve done over the years.

  1. Bring out the candles—no electricity after 6 PM

  2. Gather around for the Gospel reading with incense (use code MRS6AM). Fav app is Truth and Life.

  3. Visit a new church weekly to pray, explore, and drink in the beauty.

  4. Invite families and want-to-be-friends over for Soup and Stations on Fridays. Coloring Pages don’t hurt, either.

  5. Eliminate screen time except for some snuggles on a Sunday Family Movie Night.

  6. Keep it simple with Beer, bread, and broth for dinner on Fridays.

  7. Make the sacrifices visual with a Lenten Sacrifice Jar.

We’ve learned that anything that involves the senses is memorable for kids. If it’s not every day, don’t sweat it. Three times a week is a habit, right? And we can’t help but remind ourselves:

SKIN CARE: Decision fatigue, no more! Just like anything, habits rule. A sure way to be successful—Skin cycling. What is skin cycling, anyway? Basically, it’s a 4 day rotation: Exfoliation, Retinol, Rest, Rest. This night routine helps prevent over exfoliation and skin barrier break down. Let’s break down the cycle:

On the first night, exfoliate. We love the cult classic (and budget friendly) acid or this gentle exfoliator.
