Avoid These Marriage Atrocities 😟

Plus: Get your fridge situation situated

Call me the ‘question gal”. Have you ever monopolized a conversation by asking one person 12 questions? 🙋🏻‍♀ Guilty.

I love to ask questions, so next week I’m putting my curiousity to good use with a new interview section in Mrs6am. I’ll be dropping some hints on instagram @themrs6am (please follow me).

I can’t wait to share our first interview.

Until then, in today’s email:

  • I’ll help you beat decision (and question) fatigue in the kitchen 🥙.

  • School Year Closing Ceremonies.

  • A Call-to-Action marriage question.

  • A Lost Art, revisited.

  • 🧑🏾‍🌾 A great resource for homesteaders, gardeners, or wannabe landowners.

MEAL PLANNING: Ever open the fridge and stare blankly at all the stuff in it? We feel you. 😵‍💫 It’s difficult to mentally convert the food into meals. It’s time to power up your meal planning game 🍄 and meal plan for the whole month.

Sound crazy genius? It sure is. Save on time, money, and food if you do it all at once. Here’s how:

  1. Print out a pretty schedule for the month (here’s May).

  2. Fill in holidays, birthdays, or other special days or events you want to note.

  3. Give each day a category. (Sundays are Italian dinners, Mondays are One-Pot Meals, Wednesdays are Soup & Salad, Fridays are meatless, etc.)

  4. Take inventory, and plan meals from your pantry/fridge first.

  5. Print recipes or write down the page numbers on your calendar for easy retrieval. You can double easy meals to freeze for later!

  6. Now the hardest part: make a grocery list for each week of the month based on the planned meals.

  7. Still too much? Refer just one person to Mrs6am, and you’ll get our monthly meal plan (and grocery list) in your inbox.

A monthly meal plan and weekly grocery haul cuts decision fatigue way down. Plus, if you post it in the kitchen you’ll avoid the incessant “Mom, what’s for dinner?” Question fatigue is a thing too (Especially at 4:00pm! 😭)

SCHOOL YEAR: Go out with a pop.🍾 End the school year on a high note.

We tend to remember the beginning and end of events. Did your February homeschool flop this year? No matter. Utilize a closing ceremony to commemorate all you and your kids have learned (and endured!) throughout the year. Our tradition has always been rootbeer floats with friends at a park.

Rootbeer floats can fix a lot, but not everything. Did you have a school year drastically different than your expectations? Here’s a must-listen to help with discouragement. 😘

DIVORCE: 2022 stats are in, and they’re … not as bleak as 20 years ago.🤯Divorce rates have decreased from 4.0 to 2.5 (per thousand) since 2000. But, marriage rates have also dropped over the same period. [👎🏽 Womp-womp] What’s the biggest reason for divorce? In 2022, “lack of committment” hit 75% of marriages. Let’s use these stats to springboard ourselves into stronger marriages.

Ask yourself, “What can I do today to go all in for my husband?” Usually, it’s something small, like giving him undivived attention during a phone call, beating him to an unfinished chore, or a sending a sweet text. Because, “a good marriage is where each partner suspects they got the better deal.” I believe it! 🩵

GARDENING: Don’t have much space to plant? Try planting up. These hacks not save space and add beauty to any outdoor space. Don’t know what to grow? Start with an easy herb, like rosemary. It’s hardy, blackthumb friendly, and makes the perfect cocktail ingredient.

I’ll take one on the rocks, please.🍸

One of the truest things that I tell my kids: “When you get outside, good things happen” - Mr6am

Happy Mother’s Day to my mama, mamas-in-law, aunts, sisters, friends, and Mrs6am-ers.
