More Rose than Blanche (IYKYK)

Plus: Girls' Night idea, How to beat inflation, and the FBI

Good Morning, Ladies! It’s rainy where I am this morning, but hopefully you all are having good weather and are planning to get outside today.

In today’s email:

  • An abortion “church” opens in Cali 🤮.

  • Bathing suits - just like Grandma used to make.

  • The villa of your Italian nonna’s dreams (and mine).

  • A tried & true Girl’s Night Idea.

  • … and your weekly meal plan!

BATHING SUITS: Just call me Rose.👵🏼 I bought a swimdress. Here’s my take: it gives slight Golden Girl’s vibes, but this rust beauty I bought is comfortable, feminine, and classy. The belt cinches your waist and cuts a nice figure. 🙌 Plus, it stays in place and it’s ethically made. (Yep, I think I need it in black, too!) Honestly, I’m tired of seeing all the literal beach bums … so if you are in my boat, here’s what may suit you: protect your shoulders with a little ruffle, this floral suit to match your bestie, or this retro-inspired peplum. Complete your look 🏖 with a cover-up that doubles as a dress (also, its dupe). Hit the beach or pool this year feeling good with everything in the right place. 😉

GIRL’S NIGHT: Arranging a fun girls’ night = instant popularity. Connect with girlfriends, create something beautiful, learn a new skill with an evening of flower arranging.💐 Send this video and some inspo to all your girlies. With this tiktok tape hack and your grandmother’s soup turreen (or other unlikely vase), you’ll be all set with only fresh blooms to purchase. Here are some extra tips including how to handle poisonous blooms. Grab a bottle of wine, gather around your table, and enjoy creating something beautiful with your besties. You’ll be surprised at how unique each creation is … or you won’t, because friends are like flowers.

INFLATION: The price is wrong. 💸 March’s inflation report indicated continuing inflation and rising costs. Up 5% year over year. Eggs, milk, cereal, gas, home heating, new and used cars, mortgages, medicine — everything. Food prices are up between 20% and 30% since 2020. 😱 How do big families make ends meet? Simpler meals. (hello, beans and rice!). Less snacks (goodbye individually packaged applesauces! 😢). More frozen or canned veggies. Less filled fridge — it’s not just your family, ladies, believe me. Last year we bought a half cow to reduce the cost of meat for our family. But to do that, you have to have the money up front, which many don’t. Everybody is cutting back — especially the most vulnerable. God is in control, but it doesn’t hurt to phone a friend. So, here we go: what are your grocery hacks? Comment below and we’ll feature your tips.

RELIGION: He prowls around 😈 A new religion started in California last week — gathering congregants to worship abortion. Yes, you read that right. 🤮 The “Church of Potential Life” has opened its doors in California, sprung out of the “anger and sense of grief over the loss of abortion rights.”

SUNDAY:  Cowboy Quiche with a fruit salad for brunch

MONDAY: Pesto Chicken Avocado Orzo Salad - leftovers for lunch!

WEDNESDAY: Cuban Black Bean Stewthat ALL my kids loved.

THURSDAY: Another hit— Coconut Curry Chicken Meatballs

FRIDAY: Lemony Green Pasta: flavorful way to sneak greens into your kid’s diet

SATURDAY: Honey Garlic Chicken Wings with bagged salad and homemade fries

This week, I quote James Clear (author of Atomic Habits) who says: “Speed is perpetually undervalued. Asking that person out today means you get to live more of your life with them and less of your life waiting. Starting your business today means you begin learning immediately and have more time to figure out what works. Go fast. The future is never guaranteed and the right time may never come.”

One of our dating aspirations was: “No brakes.”👆Looks like we were onto something…

Enjoy your weekend,
