An Important Weather Advisory đ
We're bringing the heat in this edition.
Itâs officially the first day of summer đ, and things are heating up at Mrs6am. We started this newsletter in March with 2 subscribers (my husband and my Momđ) and as of today we have 1,210! đ€Ż Thank you to all of our subscribers â new and old. If you like it, refer us to your friends using your unique link at the end of this email. đ
Weâre giving you a sun-themed newsletter today. Itâs always a weird feeling. Summer is starting, but technically the days start getting shorter. If I had designed things, I would have kept the 4 seasons idea but kept daylight constant all year â ya know? Or is it just me?
In todayâs email:
Perfume: The smells of summer to get you buzzin.
Hosting: Ideas to make you the hostest with the mostest.
Date Night under the stars.
Burnout? A monkâs antidote for exhaustion.
FRAGRANCE: I have this memory of walking by a honeysuckle covered fence. It was all in bloom and it. smelled. unbelievable. đŻ So sweet and fragrant. Itâs a perfect summer scent â fresh, sweet, and floral. Give yourself one or two spritzes when youâre biking around, on a picnic blanket, at the pool or the beach, or for a summer wedding or date night. Your S.O. will be buzzinâ đ. Especially if you wear this one meant for "lovers, skinny dippers, barefoot explorers, and late-night chocolate eaters.â Best description ever. And, remember, youâll get at least a year (prob. longer) out of one bottle of perfume, so donât let the price tag scare you off.
If honey suckinâ isnât your thing â try these summer scents instead.
HOSTING: The days are getting longer, so your parties should too! đ Get your friends to stay with a relaxing and beautiful place to hang out. According to the experts (not me), skip the âmatchy matchyâ â instead, ginghams and plaids with earthy jugs and floral dinnerware...or the paper version. Get a little funky with a unique candlestick or two. Donât forget to set the mood! But, most importantly â the food.
This will elevate your hosting ideas. đ
DATE NIGHT: Skip the bar and get under the stars âš
âAnd when I shall die, take him and cut him up in little stars, and he will make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will fall in love with night and pay no worship to the garish sun.â Juliet about Romeo
Well, no need to go overboard. But, we do recommend a drive-in movie đŹ this summer. Here are some essentials â you gotta be cozy, you gotta be warm, and you gotta have the right snacks and drinks. So, get a big blanket. A portable cooler for your drinks and also your portable charcuterie (pinkies up!). This rambler, the best hoodie, and youâre all set. đ Donât forget your man.
Is there a drive-in near you?
Send in the S.W.A.T. team đŠ Hereâs how to keep your summer mosquito-free.
Salt or no salt? Here are eight cocktails đč to try if you like margaritas.
After the cocktails, a brain / gut reset?
Check your attic. Any of these would be good summer listening - plus you could bankroll a summer vacation.
If you promised him a late Fatherâs Day gift â hereâs your sign for a roadtrip. đ»
The antidote for exhaustion may not be rest . . . .hear me out. It may be âwholeheartednessâ. A wise Benedictine Monk once said:
"The reason that you are exhausted is that much of what you are doing you have no affection for. Youâre doing it because you have an abstract idea that this is what you should be doing. You are exhausted because your energies lay elsewhere. You have been ripening yourself, and you are ready to harvest yourself, and if you donât, you will rot on the vine."
Wow. If youâre like me, you may need to chew on that a bit. - Mr6am
