💪 You're going to have to fight for it ...

It’s been around the block … or a few.

The United States Postal Service turns 248 today. A special thanks to all those postal workers — "neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” Sounds a whole lot like a mother dealing with a stomach-flu rampage in her home. 🥳

Here’s the most beautiful stamp issued by the Post Office … agree to disagree?

But also,

  • MORE REST: In fact, a whole day for it.

  • BURN’D: It’s sun and leg szn — avoid the burn.

  • MARRIAGE: Well, divorce, actually, and signs of the time.

  • ALZHEIMER’S: A new treatment and some (potentially) bad news for women.

SABBATH: Set apart. Distinguished. Made different. But did you ever think of Sunday as a fight? Pope Benedict (d. 2022) did:

The fight for Sunday is another of the Church’s major concerns in the present day, when there is so much to upset the rhythm of time that sustains community.

Pope Benedict XVI

You have to fight for Sundays. They’re meant for worship, rest, leisure, family. It’s a fight with yourself to not use your time to catch-up on laundry or do a “quick” deep clean of your vanity drawers. It might be a fight with your kid’s coach to not to spend Sunday at the field.

On our best days, Sundays set the rhythm to your week. On our worst days (when everyone is fighting or the cloud of the week’s to-do list darkens your mood) — they remind us that obedience is a muscle meant to be exercised. And, like most unused muscles, you’ll be a little sore.

So grab your boxing gloves and expect bumps along the way, because “your Sabbath needs to disrupt your life. “(Minute 27:00)

BEAUTY: It’s pool, beach, and vacation szn. 🌞 You know what that means — it’s hot and you’re going to be in a bathing suit. Leave the razor burns at home while you relax at the water. No one wants to think about this, but there are easy things you can do to prevent the burn … Shaving cream is mandatory (try this fav luxe product) and a sharp razor is a must. Then moisturize, soothe, and protect the Area with a grapeseed or tea tree oil based moisturizer (try this or that). Lay back in your lounge chair worry-free!

If you have the wherewithal — skip the razor and go with the ideal wax or laser hair removal sesh.

SIGN OF THE TIMES: And you thought the wedding reception was a rager — wait til you see the divorce party! 😣 Per the Wall Street Journal, “Divorce Parties” are the hot new invite. The hashtag #divorceparty is lighting up TikTok with 100M views. Pinterest searches for “divorce cakes” have recently risen 50%, and searches for “divorce party games” has risen by 80%. Plus our corporate overlords have to get theirs 💲 — Etsy, Walmart, and Amazon all are trafficking divorce-themed decorations and party supplies.

Call me old fashioned, but I’d rather celebrate and hype this. 💑

HEALTH: Alzheimer’s affects more women than men (2/3rds affected are women?!), so we were interested to see that concerns have been raised about the new Alzheimer’s drug that was fully FDA approved a couple weeks ago. Turns out experts are expressing concerns that the first FDA-approved Alzheimer’s drug may be less effective for women — it slowed cognitive decline in women by 12% compared to 43% in men. Not to mention it is $26,500 per year for treatment. 😡 Hang in there, ladies! We may not have to worry for long.

In the meantime, prevention is key keto. 🥩

  • An unsolved mystery — even with cameras, police, secret service, FBI, and 100s of people around. 👃🏽

  • Before buying your kid their first phone, consider this . . .

  • Shaken, not stirred — an explanation. 🍸

  • When did summer camp get so luxe?

  • And, how to get started.

“You can’t pour from an empty cup. Do not neglect yourself. There’s nothing selfish about putting your own well-being first sometimes. In fact, you NEED to do it. If you want to be the best Dad (or Mom) you can be, you need to be at your best. Period. Take the morning off from family chores. Go on retreat. Get a cup of coffee alone on Saturday. And, remember, you need to give that space and freedom to your spouse also.” - Mr6am
