After a little hiatus, Mrs6am is here to kick your mid-week Wednesday slump. Thank you for the sweet (and concerned) messages. I assure you I’m still alive and kicking. :)
Let’s get caught up.
By now, you’re probably knee deep in your 2024 resolutions. You’ve been inundated with all the weight loss strategies, reading goals, and dry January mocktails you can take.
If you’ve already forgotten your resolutions, it’s np. January is just a warm-up, right?
Because reflection > resolution. And February is when all the magic happens. ✨
Now, on to the good stuff:

HOME: Can pewter come out to play? Silver, chrome, and antiqued pewter are in. What’s this mean for you? Don’t worry, gold’s not going anywhere—but be ready to break out grandma’s silver tray. If you’re not into sterile looking stainless steel everywhere, rest assured. To keep it polished and sophisticated, go for a brushed chrome or nickel. Here’s how to restore your thrifted silver finds and our favorite silver pieces.
EXERCISE: We know the drill: You’re a mama of littles or you just don’t have the time. Really — you can’t find the time to pee, let alone exercise. But you’re motivated to start. How do you get over the hump and find your exercising groove?
First, don’t exercise until you’ve set aside time for daily prayer. Yep, you heard me. Carve out at least 5-10 minutes of silence or scripture. Dump the phone or set an alarm. Ten minutes less of sleep won’t kill you. But it will breathe life into your soul.
Second, talk to your man. He wants your happiness and health, and he knows you best. Whether he gets up early with you, agrees to take the kids to another floor, or cheers you on, he will be of immense help. Get his take on your schedule. Don’t shoot down his suggestions.
Third, start early. Inevitably, you will be exhausted by the kids’ bedtime. You’ll want to curl up next your handsome hubby. You’ll want to scroll and sip.🍹So, get it done in the morning. Here’s an unpopular truth: naptime is dust. Inevitably it falls through. Exercise early.
Fourth, redefine “exercise.” Stop comparing yourself to the postpartum body/energy/routine that you had after your first baby (or second or third, etc.). Even comparing yourself to yourself can rob your joy! Start with three times a week for 10-20 minutes, whether it’s a stroller walk, light weights in your living room, a quick YouTube video. Don’t increase your time or frequency for a good three weeks — get into a habit first.
It doesn’t have to be fancy or sweaty to be legit. 🪖But, if you can, make it pretty.
FASHION: Don’t give them the cold shoulder. Repurpose your fav medium weight knit sweater as a scarf. Add texture to an already neutral coat or add a pop of color. If you’re wearing a coat, loosely knot the sweater over your coat, or just drape over your shoulders. Best styling trick? Cuff the sleeves. If you want to go the extra mile: drape over one shoulder for a cross-body look. (Perfect for nursing moms, too.) Here’s the how-to you don’t want to miss.
