Plus: spring nail polish colors, skincare, and menstrual syncing.
My, my! You’re up at six on a Saturday — you’re a true hero! Do NOT read this e-mail until you’ve poured your coffee.
In today’s issue:
ANTI-AGING: 📈 Boost your skin with proven skincare products and …gene therapy?
MENSTRUAL SYNCING: What is it? Learn your cycle and sync your workouts.
HOME WRECK-ONOMICS: 🥐 Cooking with your kids — not all bad.
NAIL POLISH: The complete spring guide.
HELMETS: What they did without them. 😱
CYCLE SYNCING: Sync workouts with your menstrual cycle? The U.S. Women’s soccer team did — and they brought home gold twice!🥇What does it mean, and how did they do it? The elite athletes tracked their menstrual cycles (just like heart rates) and found that training optimized during the first half of their cycle when estrogen was on the rise. Here’s a basic look at the phases of your cycle and how to change your workouts to optimize growth and rest. The information can be a bit overwhelming, so start small.
Get in touch with your cycle using these best-in-class cycle/fertility monitors — you’ll know when you ovulate and peak 🏔, when you’re infertile, and when your period is coming. And you’ll be ready to hit heavy weights and a HIIT workout with your hubby .🏋
COOKING W/KIDS: We don’t do Home Economics here. We do Home Wreck-onomics 🙄. Recently, both my 14-year old and my 12-year old made dinner for the family. It takes awhile to get there (and a lot of big messes and burned dinners), but it’s amazing now that I can hand them a cookbook and get dinner in two hours. I’ve started a list of basic recipes I want my kids to have in their back pocket before leaving home — a family soup recipe, Mr6am’s marinara & meatballs, homemade pretzels, chocolate chip cookies, and chili. In the meantime, work up to family chef using simple recipes with minimal ingredients — perfect for an elementary-aged kid to do (and clean up!) on their own. Here’s a quick bread, a healthy treat, or easy-to-make scones for some inspiration. 👩🏻🍳
STARBUCKS WITH OLIVE OIL: The best thing to come from Italy since cannoli? Not according to early reviews. Nevertheless, Starbucks is debuting its coffee with olive oil in the U.S. this week. Former CEO, Howard Schultz, noticed Italians sipping olive oil along with their cappucino and decided to combine the two at Starbucks 🇮🇹. It might not taste good, but Schultz may have discovered something. Fat in coffee prolongs caffeine’s effects, promotes digestion, and may balance hormones, among other benefits! Will Target start selling “Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my fat” mugs soon? #businessidea💡
SKINCARE: Let’s talk Retinol. Retinol is the gold standard ingredient in creams made for reversing the signs of skin aging and increasing collagen production. Are you in your 30s, 40s, or 50s? It’s never too late to start. Tretinoin is most effective, but, unlike retinol, you need a prescription (which you can get online by telemedicine). Quick tips for beginners: (1) appy at night, (2) start slow, a couple times a week with .5% tretinoin, (3) use a pea-size amount, (4) mix it up with moisturizer before applying or sandwich between moisturizer layers, (5) wear sunscreen, and (6) GIVE IT TIME ⏳ It’s a long game — stick with it to see results.
Here’s a great video to plump up your Retinol knowledge.
NAIL TRENDS: Spring is at our fingertips! 💅 Bright shades are in — like magenta (the Pantone color of the year), lemon lime, and this lovely lilac. Want a neutral? Go for this shimmering rose gold, a brown and bougie shade, or gray with a blue undertone — anything but boring!
These Americans are making their dream lives come true — on a budget.
The kids will be alright. But I still want them to wear a helmet. 🙈
So you’re telling me there’s a chance! Hang on a little longer, age reversal is coming!
Do these actually work🤨 Warm milk to go to sleep? Cranberry juice for UTI? Sex to relieve menstrual cramps? Let’s see, shall we?

Anxious? Worried? Confused? Sad? Been there — believe me. Here’s what I recommend. Right now (I mean right this minute) set aside an hour for a good, hard workout with heavy weights. If that’s not possible, go for a 3 mile+ hike. Or, if it’s nearing bed time — do whatever you need to do to get a good night’s sleep. Your problems will adjust to their true level of importance if you do any of these things. Then you can confront them with a clear mind.
MONDAY: One-pan italian chicken and veggies. Serve it over or alongside pasta, or keep it GF with a side salad.
TUESDAY: Ham-fried rice that will be a crowd pleaser!
WEDNESDAY: Baked panko chicken (use GF breadcrumbs, if you’d like) with honey drizzle 🤤. Do these roasted veggies on the side.
THURSDAY: Do creamy beef and shells Thursday.
FRIDAY: And this contest-winning black bean soup with crusty bread for a Lenten Friday.
SATURDAY: Butter chicken. Serve it with sauteed spinach, steam broccoli or salad.
SUNDAY: For your Sunday afternoon dinner, these baked pork chops with mashed potatoes on the side.
Well, looky here! Would you believe it? We’re humorous, sassy, and wise. Thanks, Mary! 😘 You too could be featured if you leave us feedback. Stroke our ego a bit 😉 and we’ll share your comment.
👆🏽Thank you! See you on Wednesday morning — at 6am,
